What We Do
Aluna Learning partners with researchers, educators, and organizations to translate learning science into practical solutions. Based in Eugene, Oregon, we work nationally across two interconnected areas:
Product Development & Research: We are the sole developer of KinderTEK®, a research-backed digital early mathematics system used by over 5,000 students across a decade of federally funded studies. Our work bridges rigorous learning science with usable, classroom-ready technology.
Consulting & Evaluation: We guide nonprofits, educational organizations, and community groups serving children and families through evaluation strategy, organizational learning, and evidence-building. We meet teams where they are—helping you move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
KinderTEK
KinderTEK® is a comprehensive early mathematics instructional system with embedded assessment and learning management tools. Developed through over a decade of federally funded research, KinderTEK has been used by 100+ teachers and 5,000+ students.
We currently offer:
- KinderTEK Pro Connected – WiFi-supported with cross-device syncing for school and home use
- KinderTEK Offline – Full instruction and practice for up to 34 learners, no internet required
- KinderTEK Lite Offline – Simplified home learning experience for ages 3+
We're also developing KinderTEK Math Online, a device-agnostic platform initiated with seed funding from the UO Catalyst Fund.
ABOUT MARI STRAND CARY, PH.D.
Mari Strand Cary is the founder of Aluna Learning and a senior leader in learning systems, EdTech development, and evaluation research. With expertise spanning developmental psychology, instructional design, and large-scale research implementation, she bridges the gap between learning science and practical application
Mari is currently exploring leadership roles that blend research, learning systems, and product strategy—particularly in mission-aligned EdTech and learning-focused organizations. She contributes best in roles that prioritize evidence-driven decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and meaningful impact over speed alone.
Based in Eugene, Oregon, Mari is open to fully remote roles, west coast teams, or positions with periodic travel.
