Question: 

Can I exit KinderTEK during student play if a student is unable to finish the session?

Answer: 

 Touching the blue button on the top right corner of the screen, called Progress Path with give the teacher a secret exit button. The Progress Path and will need to be turned on in the settings.

When this feature is on and the blue button is touched, the play response portion of the app is paused, the clock will keep counting down. A blue screen will appear. In the bottom right corner of the blue screen, you will see an "Exit for Teacher" button. This will log a student off at any time in the session.

Question: 

Can I pause KinderTEK during student play?

Answer: 

 You can pause play with the blue button on the top right corner of the screen. This setting feature is called Progress Path and will need to be turned on in the settings.

When this feature is on and the blue button is touched, the play response portion of the app is paused, the clock will keep counting down. This means the total session time will remain the same but the student will not get marked with incorrect answers for not responding.

How do I find my students’ progress?

Answer: 

If you are on the iPad:

  • Go to Manage Users
  • Touch the student name in the left column
  • Touch the prgress bar on the right for more detailed information

    Question: 

    What happens in screen mode if my students don't do very well?

    Answer: 

    Screening mode adjusts to student success, so if your student is successful, they will keep

    taking more challenging test. If your student tests on skills they do not know, the KinderTEK app

    will NOT continue to test them on more challenging curriculum. Their screening mode will end quicker than a student who is higher in math skills.

    Question: 

    Why do some of my students get a red hand on the screen?

    Answer: 

    This is an optional feature called a visual indicator. When the visual indicator is turned on, the student will see a green thumbs up or a red hand indicating when it is their turn.

    Can a session be paused without exiting while a student is playing?

    Answer: 

    A teacher or student can touch the blue box at the top of the screen, called the progress path. This is an optional feature in the settings. Touching this will allow the students to see what they have done in the current session and pause the game play. The clock of the session will keep counting, but the touch response will be paused. This is an excellent way to students to pause the game without losing their session or affecting their learning progress.

    Why do some students have blue squiggle line in upper right corner and some not? What

    setting is it?

    Answer: 

    The blue box with the squiggly line is called the progress path. This is an optional feature in the settings. Touching this will allow the students to see what they have done in the current session and pause the game play. The clock of the session will keep counting, but the touch response will be paused. This is an excellent way to students to pause the game without losing their session or affecting their learning progress.

    Question: 

    Why so many stickers for some activities and why so few for others?

    Answer: 

    The stickers are awarded by items in an activity, in activities where students choose a number, the items appear rapidly, in other activities, such as story problems, the student will take longer to get through each item.

    Question: 

    My students are earning stickers at different rates even though I set their reward settings

    the same?

    Answer: 

    The settings based on correctness and time will be affected by the activities themselves as well as student responses. Since each student’s experience will vary, their sticker rates will also be affected.

    Question: 

    I saw stickers pop up and I didn't make a choice, but they went away.

    Answer: 

    Students have a few seconds to choose a sticker. If they do not, the app will choose for them.
